Three zones. Zero clutter. Full focus.
Three.fold is a focused task manager built around a simple idea: not everything is equally important, and your daily plan should reflect that. Capture tasks in your Inbox, promote the ones that matter to Today, and let the rest wait.
Getting Started
The Three Zones
Zone | Purpose |
Inbox | Capture everything without thinking. Brain-dump freely — you sort later. |
Today | Your committed plan for the day. Limited slots keep you honest. |
Logbook | A record of everything you’ve completed. Tap the ✓ icon to open it. |
Today’s Slots
Today enforces a simple structure:
- 1 High Priority — the one thing that must get done
- 1 Medium Priority — important, but not critical
- Unlimited Single Actions — quick wins and small tasks
This constraint is intentional. If everything is a priority, nothing is.
Notes
A persistent scratchpad always available in the third tab. Supports bullet lists, numbered lists, pasted images, and auto-detected links. Notes auto-clear on a schedule you choose (3, 7, 14, or 30 days).
How To
Add a task
Tap the text field at the bottom of Inbox or Today and type your task. Press Return or tap + to save.
Assign a context quickly
Type a prefix before your task title — for example W: Send report assigns it to Work automatically. You can set up prefixes for each context in Settings → Contexts.
Move a task to Today
- Tap the ☀️ sun icon on any Inbox task, or
- Swipe right on the task row, or
- Long-press the task and choose Move to Today
Three.fold automatically picks the best available priority slot.
Vote to prioritize your Inbox
Use the ▲ / ▼ arrows on each task to vote it up or down (−3 to +3). The Inbox sorts by votes so your most important tasks always float to the top.
Complete a task
Tap the circle checkbox on any task. It moves to the Logbook automatically.
Edit a task
Swipe left on a task and tap Edit, or long-press and choose Edit.
Delete a task
Swipe left and tap Delete. An Undo button appears for a few seconds in case you change your mind.
Restore a completed task
Open the Logbook (✓ icon in the toolbar), swipe right on the task, and tap Restore.
Change a task’s priority in Today
Long-press the task → Change Priority → choose High, Medium, or Single Action. The option is disabled if that slot is already taken.
Contexts
Contexts let you color-code tasks by life area (Work, Personal, Health, etc.).
- Built-in contexts (Work, Personal) are created on first launch and cannot be deleted
- Custom contexts can be added, reordered, edited, or deleted in Settings → Contexts
- Each context can have a color and a prefix shortcut (e.g.
H:for Health)
iCloud Sync
Three.fold syncs privately via iCloud across your iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
- Data is stored in your private iCloud database — it is never shared with or visible to anyone else
- Sync happens automatically in the background
- The cloud icon in the toolbar shows the current sync state (green = synced, animated = syncing, red = error)
- Tap the cloud icon at any time to trigger a manual sync
- iCloud Sync can be turned off in Settings → Data
Sync not working? 1. Make sure you are signed in to iCloud on your device (Settings → [your name]) 2. Check that iCloud Drive is enabled 3. Try tapping the sync icon in the toolbar to force a refresh 4. If the issue persists, try toggling iCloud Sync off and back on in Settings, then restart the app
Daily Rollover
When enabled, all unfinished Today tasks return to Inbox automatically at a time you choose. This keeps your daily plan fresh and prevents tasks from quietly carrying over without intention.
- Configure in Settings → Daily Rollover
- The rollover time syncs across all your devices via iCloud
Widgets
Three.fold includes Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets:
Widget | Description |
Today Tasks (small) | Shows your task count. Color-coded by priority level. |
Today Tasks (medium / large / XL) | Lists individual tasks. Tap a task to mark it complete without opening the app. |
Add to Inbox | One tap opens the app directly into capture mode. |
To add a widget: long-press your Home Screen → tap + → search for Three.fold.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why can I only have one High Priority task? That is the point. The constraint forces you to decide what truly matters most today. If you feel like everything is High Priority, start with the one that would make the biggest difference if it were done by end of day.
Can I have more than one Medium Priority task? Not by default. The structure is 1 High + 1 Medium + unlimited Singles. This mirrors the idea that a good day has one major focus and one secondary focus — everything else is execution.
My tasks disappeared after enabling/disabling iCloud Sync. Changing sync settings requires restarting the app to take effect. After the restart, your data should appear. If tasks are still missing, tap the sync icon to trigger a full iCloud fetch.
Notes cleared unexpectedly. Notes are set to auto-clear after a chosen interval (default: 7 days). You can adjust or extend this in Settings → Notes → Auto-clear. The countdown banner at the top of the Notes tab shows exactly when the next clear is scheduled.
The widget is not updating. Widgets refresh approximately every 15 minutes. If a widget appears stale, open the app once — this pushes the latest data to the widget immediately.
I completed a task from the widget but it still shows in the app. Widget completions are processed the next time you open the app. Open Three.fold and the task will be marked complete automatically.
How do I reorder contexts? Go to Settings → Contexts and drag the rows using the handle on the right side.
Can I use Three.fold on my Mac? Yes. A native macOS companion app is available and shares the same iCloud container. Tasks created or completed on Mac appear on iPhone and iPad automatically.
Privacy
Three.fold does not collect any personal data, analytics, or usage information. All task data is stored locally on your device and, if iCloud Sync is enabled, in your private Apple iCloud account. No data is ever transmitted to any third-party server.
